Mike’s Story
At the age of 4, my son was diagnosed with a Speech impediment. He worked with a Speech Pathologist for 2 years, enhancing his articulation. A year later, I took him to get his teeth cleaned and his Dental Hygienist was under the impression that he was tongue tied (this made some sense to me since it was at times still difficult to understand his speech). I was advised to consult a Speech Pathologist since they are the ones who do the diagnosis for a child being tongue tied.
I called around trying to find a different Speech Pathologist (since our original one retired) and I happened to come across Spectrum Speech Pathology. I had a long conversation with the owner (Amy), in regard to the situation & what my son had gone through & the concerns that I had. I ended up bringing him into her office for a full evaluation and it was determined that he had issues with his speech articulation & narrative coherence.
He worked with Amy on Virtual visits each week for a year or two, to help him with his articulation issues. Towards the end of his two years with Amy, he started working with Grace (another Speech Pathologist) who focused on narrative coherence. My son worked with her for about a year to a year & a half on storytelling and allowing him to realize there is a sequence in explaining things so that people understand what you are trying to convey. Luckily, Grace was able to get my son to be able to become much more proficient in English. Now, he is back to where his peers are in school.
I could go on and on about the appreciation I have for Amy, Grace & Spectrum Speech Therapy, but I will just say that without them taking the time to work with my son & help him improve in both areas of weakness, he would still be struggling in school & having severe communication issues with others.
Sometimes in life, things just happen, and we might not realize it till later how fortunate we were, but I can say that now, I realize now how extremely blessed we were to have Spectrum Speech Therapy assist us in addressing my son with his speech issues.
The moral of the story is, I would highly recommend anyone having issues with their child’s speech, to reach out to Spectrum Speech Pathology and give them the opportunity to help.
Danielle’s Story
My son has been going to Spectrum Speech Therapy for nearly 7 years and I can’t sign their praises enough. He started out at almost 4 years old. He was barely talking. Spectrum’s owner, Amy, started seeing him then and working on all his sounds. Her way with children is unparalleled. She loves these kids like they are her own and she really digs deep to figure out not just how to treat the symptoms but what the root cause is and she treats that.
My son has since graduated from traditional speech and now sees Debbie for help with pragmatic language and executive functioning. Her work with him is invaluable. As a fifth grader, he’s becoming more independent and needs help with these extremely important life skills. Debbie connects with him and is able to make therapy fun. He is always eager to go see her, and I see the progress he’s making every single week. I am so grateful to this practice!
We also had our youngest in speech with Grace for a short time. She was not talking as much as I thought she should be by the time she was two. Within a few sessions with Grace, who is absolutely fantastic, she was saying words and then sentences. It was like a light switch was turned on by Grace!
I cannot say enough good things about this practice and all the therapists who are in it. They are worth their weight in gold! If your kiddo needs an SLP, this is the practice to go to!
Evan’s Story
Amy was such an amazing speech therapist! She identified the issues my son was having and came up with strategies to address them. Her friendly demeanor made him feel comfortable in their sessions and he progressed each time they met. I would recommend her services to anyone with speech or fluency issues.
